Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. We keep our use of them deliberately narrow. We group cookies into three categories - the same three you see in our consent banner. Analytics and Marketing never load until you say yes.
How consent works
When you first visit, a banner asks you to choose. Your decision is saved in a single cookie named mwh-consent as plain JSON - for example, { required: true, analytics: true, marketing: false }. It lasts up to one year (path: /, SameSite: Lax) and is read on every page so we don't ask again. Required cookies always load. Analytics and Marketing load only if you opt in. Until you choose, no analytics or marketing cookie is set.
The three categories
Required (login, language preference, currency, anti-CSRF)
- When it loads
- Always on - these are essential for the site to work and cannot be switched off.
- What it stores
- Your sign-in session, your language (en / fr-CA / es-MX), your currency and units preferences, an anti-CSRF security token, and the mwh-consent cookie that records this very choice.
- Retention
- Session cookies clear when you close the browser; preference and consent cookies last up to one year.
Analytics (PostHog, IP anonymized)
- When it loads
- Only after you opt in. PostHog initializes solely once you accept Analytics; declining means it never loads.
- What it stores
- Anonymous product-usage signals - pages viewed, clicks, and aggregate behavior - with your IP address anonymized. We use this to understand what's helpful and fix what isn't. No sale of data.
- Retention
- Per PostHog's processing; you can withdraw at any time, which stops new collection.
Marketing (Phase 2: Meta Pixel, GA4)
- When it loads
- Not active today. This category is reserved for a future phase; no marketing or advertising cookie is set at this time.
- What it stores
- Nothing today. If and when we activate advertising measurement (Meta Pixel, Google Analytics 4), this page and the banner will be updated first, and the cookies will load only with your consent.
- Retention
- Not applicable until activated.
Changing your choices
Reopen the consent banner to change your mind at any time. You can also clear the mwh-consent cookie in your browser settings - the banner reappears on your next visit and you can choose again. Your browser's own controls let you block or delete cookies entirely, though Required cookies are needed for core features like staying signed in.
Your privacy rights
Cookie analytics are personal data under Mexico's LFPDPPP, Quebec's Law 25, and the EU's GDPR. You can access, correct, delete, or object to processing of your data, and withdraw consent at any time.
